Lets Continue Blogging

Moved on to the excellent Ramsgate Pub Micropub trying Kent Brewery Pomegranate Saison - what a superb beer.

It's been a while.

It has been a while since I last blogged but I do need to start a fresh. So today sees me in Ramsgate & sampling a pint of Ramsgate Brewery'S Gadds' Sow Away - a 3.9% abv golden bitter in the town's Red Lion. A very refreshing beer easy drinking.

Cor!! It has been ages again

Blogging is something I forget about but after the last couple of years I have decided that will start to blog more often in the future.

I was going to travel to Broadstairs but the weather forecast predicts rain so decided to stay local so I'm writing this in Margate's Mechanical Elephant drinking JW Lee's seasonal Plum Pudding. And it has gone down very well.

Cor it's Been Ages

Cor it's been ages still I lasted posted - I forget about it. I have promised my self that I'm going to post at least once a week from now on. So he's my first post.
The Little Albion Inn on the St. Peter's Broadstairs boundary changed its name to the Hogs Head at the end of July - I always felt that the place got confused with the Royal Albion Hotel in town as it seems the landlord of the pub did.
The Offy off-license on Broadstairs Broadway is reincarnating into The Pub Micropub, which has its grand opening on Saturday 3 November from Noon.
That's it for now another post later this week I hope.
Cheers and safe drinking, RAG

New drinking establishments in Thanet

Thanet has two new drinking establishments; The Old Bay Alehouse in Minnis Road Birchington-on-Sea and Banks Ale & Winehouse in Northdown Road Cliftonville.

The first establishment, which opened in mid-March is being run by Phil and Kirsty Griffiths, is situated in a former retail shop close to Minnis Bay.

The place has been furnished with some high tables and a some armchairs; a church pew runs along one of the long walls while a bar counter behind which is situated the cool room runs along the other.

The walls are decorated in light colours giving the place a air feel.

Beers are served direct from the barrel as is cider and wine.

The other new outlet is Banks Ale and Wine House situated in a former bank in Northdown Road, Cliftonville.

The place has been tastefully deck-out with light colours, wooden floors and comfortable chairs and tables.

There is a bar counter with keg fonts and four handpumps though the real ales are served from taps in the wall which are gravity feed from the cool room behind the taps.

Both outlets are worth supporting.

Smallest pub in Britan!

Just been down to see for myself what the media have been billing the smallest pub in Britain - the Little Prince. The pub is the brainchild of Andy Barrett of Ramsgate's Belgium Bar and is housed in a small unit measuring 3m x 2m (11' x 6'6") within the Old Kent Market, an indoor market which was formerly the Matchroom sports bar and at one time a cinema opposite Margate Harbour. There is standing room for about six punters inside the unit, though extra seating and tables are available outside the pub within the market.

The pub serves one real ale, a lager, a real cider plus wines, various sprints and bottled beers & ciders.

Between the Station and the Train

Thanet's newest real ale pub has just opened in Broadstairs High Street. Mind the Gap is a new venture of Clare Galvin and her husband Shawn, who along with Ian Noble run the award winning Yard of Ale in nearby St Peter's.
The pub is split into two rooms with a ground floor area housing a mix of table & chairs and a couple of sofas for seating and an upper level where there is a bar counter behind which is the cool stillage area.
A nice large b&w picture of a goods train leaving Broadstairs station adorns one wall, while a model railway track runs around the top of the ground floor room.
I hope Clare & Shawn make a success of this excellent pub.
